Obama's Inaugaration
As I was listening to Obama's inaugaration speech on January 20th, 2009, there were actually two quotes that struck me. One was when he said: "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America," and the other was when he said "We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by including terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you." The first quote was encouraging. I thought that his technique of coming out and just stating what WE should do as a nation now that he is President shows his readiness to take on the leadership role. To me, he's saying that even though we've been through a lot as a nation it's time to restore all that have gone wrong with a new attitude and a new America. In other words, "It's a new day, let's remake our country!" The second quote that Obama stated was not one to mess with. It was as if he was letting those who have left a negative mark on America know that now that change has come through him, they better watch out and KNOW that we don't play games, we are the REAL DEAL! Obama's words keep me up on my feet. I don't find myself questioning anything he says because it all seems realistic. Rather than diving into deep waters, he seems to know how deep he must dive in before drowning. Day by day I will live with the knowledge that America has a president who FINALLY gets it. He will lead with an iron fist and a soft heart. YES WE CAN!
